On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and evidence obtained from phones logged Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported child disappearance cases and continues to be unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "Imagine there is a small chance that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The tribunal was told that through electronic messages, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the information, told the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt left a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court learned the co-defendant struck up a connection through digital means with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' home in that area in that winter.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had communicated using messaging service to Mrs McCann to express the press had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be considered genuine in the months leading up to the visit to Rothley, that area, in that winter.

The court heard message exchanges between the two accused, in last November, discussing endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their home, Mrs Spragg sent a text which expressed: "We are sat outside the McCanns' house with our headlights off similar to private investigators. I had hoped to achieve this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be doing that with the McCanns."

The trial ongoing.
