Jurgen Klopp says a return to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that a future comeback is an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign featuring Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans holding him in high esteem would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I declared I refuse to lead another team in England. So that means should it be the Reds...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision in a few years, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on what circumstances would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, a player he signed during his tenure, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace such an individual? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room without him in it. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for the entire squad as well. Not a single person might employ it as an excuse though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
