This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Leader.
Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official experienced a ceremonial pardon event this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miamiâs Little Havana neighborhood.
âThe swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,â declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.
âIf we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,â the mayor added. âLet this swine have a long and happy life away from worry.â
The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the regionâs Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was founded to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The pig, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming âsix sevenâ â originating from a hip-hop line â often for no discernable reason. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently declared âsix-sevenâ its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge âfar from charcoal and roasting pansâ, according to the ceremony's official statement.
âThe pig pardon has become a cherished method to begin the festive period,â said Eric Castellanos, in a notably cheerful message.
âIt captures the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.â
Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
